Extreme Cold Comes To Long Island For Valentine's Day

Long Island homeowners could be seeing the coldest temperatures in 20 years this Valentine's weekend.  As you prepare for Valentine's Day, don't forget to protect your home. With single digit temperatures on Long Island and wind chills below zero, it is important to protect your home against freezing pipes.

Keep your thermostat set to a least 65 degrees or higher.  Setting the temperature in your home any lower than that could cause your pipes to freeze in this extreme cold.  Pipes in attics or crawl spaces should be protected with insulation, and your heating system should be cleaned and serviced at least once a year.

Happy Valentine's Day Long Island!  Stay warm!
